Our Story

In the summer of 2012, just three months into retirement, our father, Richard, was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease.

He grew up in a big Irish Catholic family—one of eight siblings—in a blue-collar household where love, loyalty, and hard work were the norm. Both of his parents served in the Navy during World War II. His father worked at a building supply company, and all five of his brothers found their way into the construction trades. Our Uncle John even became well-known in the industry, writing three books on various construction techniques (link to Amazon).

Our dad spent over 40 years as a mailman and ran his own roofing company on the side. He worked 6–7 days a week for our entire lives. We've never met anyone who works harder. When he retired, he had banked so much sick time that he was paid his full salary for over a year and a half.

We’re from Western Maryland (a small town called Poolesville), but Ocean City was always our second home. Our dad and uncles actually built our grandparents’ retirement home in North Ocean City. Summers meant trips to Billy’s Sub Shop, Fisher’s Popcorn, and Thrasher’s Fries. Off-seasons meant walking our dogs on the boardwalk and making memories that stuck with us.

So when it was finally time to retire, Ocean Pines was our dad’s dream—and he’s loved every bit of it.

But as Parkinson’s has progressed, living alone has become more difficult. Our dad is fiercely independent, but after a series of falls in 2022—one of which landed him in the hospital for two weeks—his doctors told us he could no longer safely live alone.

We started exploring care options, but the cost of assisted living was staggering. And honestly, that’s just not what he wanted. He wants to stay in his home—and for someone who has given so much to others over the years, we knew it was our turn to give back.

Mike has spent the last 20 years as a carpenter, specializing in painting but skilled in just about everything. Brandon has spent the past decade in tech and business.

So we joined forces to launch this business—with the goal of being reliable, honest, and hardworking neighbors to the Ocean Pines community.

This is our story.
